래디오헤드 신보가 1월1일에 북미지역에 release 되는군요. 아시다시피 discbox는 아니고 그냥 CD2장짜리 인듯, discbox는 radiohead.com에서만 구매가 가능합니다.

It was officially announced today that TBD Records (Radiohead's own imprint)/ATO Records Group will be releasing the physical version of In Rainbows in the United States on January 1, 2008.

Released in download format earlier last month, In Rainbows has already received tremendous acclaim in the press. British music magazine Q wrote “In Rainbows is a brilliant work” while Rolling Stone said the album “delivers an emotional punch that proves all other rock stars owe us an apology.” New York magazine raved, “Radiohead has made their best music in years, maybe ever.”

The first two singles will be "Bodysnatchers" and "Jigsaw Falling in to Place".

다운로드에 200불 지불?

200불까지 지불하고 다운로드 하는사람도 있답디다.
나도 돈 많으면 2000불도 가능.

ㅡ,.ㅡ;;

보통 많은 팬이 20불 했다네요.

LONDON, Oct. 13 Radiohead fans paid up to $200 to download the bands' seventh studio album, "In Rainbows," from their Web site, despite it being available for free.

Radiohead broke with their major record company, Parlophone, to release their latest album independently to fans with optional pricing.

The one-time download price listed at the band's Internet site is blank, followed by a question mark, indicating fans can pay anywhere from nothing at all, to the maximum price of $200.

A survey by the Telegraph showed most fans paid up to $20 to download the album. A small percentage surveyed paid $80 for the deluxe box set, which contains two vinyl albums, a CD, bonus tracks, artwork and lyrics.

A quarter of those surveyed paid either nothing, or mere cents for the download.

The experiment by Radiohead marks a groundbreaking venture as the record industry is facing ever-decreasing record sales accompanied by an increase in peer-to-peer file sharing.

근데 지금입장에선 그럴거 같지만 막상 그정도 되는 사람이 되어도 다운 받는데 몇천만원 주지는 않을 듯...;; 라디오헤드가 굶으면서 음악하는 사람들도 아니고...;; 차라리 그것보다 더 어마어마한 돈 주고 한국 한번 오라고 하는게 낫지.

재밌게도, 라디오헤드 대변인에 따르면 대부분의 팬들이 디지탈온리(다운로드버젼)을 구매하기 보다는 40파운드짜리 디스크박스를 예약주문했다고 하네요. 어찌보면 당연하기도. 다운로드 버젼은 10월10일 이후에나 판매량이 늘지 않을까요.

Fans can pre-order the digital version of Radiohead's upcoming In Rainbows album for any price they want, but most of them have ponied up an amount similar to what would be charged at a retailer, according to band spokesperson Murray Chalmers, who spoke with the BBC:

"Although the idea is that you can decide what you want to pay, most people are deciding on a normal retail price with very few trying to buy it for a penny."

Chalmers also said that rather than choosing the digital-only version of the album, most pre-orders have been for the $80 "discbox" collection, which includes the CD, a second CD with extra material, a heavyweight vinyl version of the album, and a hardcover booklet with lyrics and other material.

Radiohead took a huge risk in releasing their album this way, but judging from this early indication (which, granted, comes from their publicist), the risk seems to be paying off, not only in terms of press coverage, but also by generating advance sales -- of a high-priced album package, no less. Surely, there's a lesson to other bands and labels floating around here somewhere: increase anticipation for your album, treat fans with respect, give them options and offer something truly attractive to the hardcore following, and the world will beat a path to your server -- which will then require an upgrade, as the operators of Radiohead.com found out yesterday.

이번 신보앨범 예약판매에 문제가 있나 보군요. 인터넷이 폭주하면서 사이트가 다운되나 봅니다. 당연한 것이지만, 보완하고 있으니, 곧 괜찮아 질거라고 하네요. 그외에도 기타 뉴스들 보면, 레이블에서 난리? 라기보다는 좀 어처구니 없어하고 있나 봅니다. No Label 워~. 여전히 충격적이군요;;

With the shock announcement on their official website that the new album 'In Rainbows' will be released in little more than a week, fans have been encountering problems with pre-ordering the album.

As previously reported, the download version will be available on October 10, while the discbox will be ready to ship on or before December 3, exclusively through Radiohead.com.

However, guitarist Jonny Greenwood has said that massive interest in the band's seventh studio album has caused problems with pre-ordering it.

He told the band's official site: "Just to let you know...(official website) w.a.s.t.e are working on the current gear- grinding at inrainbows.com...it's getting busy in there - busier than they expected.

"So, if you please bear with us, it should get cleared out soon. I sound like a bouncer. Get behind the rope. No denim. Thanks for your patience with the site + interest in the record."

The band have not set a price for the download version of the album, leaving the price field blank and letting the customers decide how much to pay for the release.

You can now get a sneak preview of what the new Radiohead album sounds like on the NME Office Blog.

Plus as you can name your own price tell us how much you will play for the new Radiohead album.

중요한 뉴스가 좀 늦었군요;; 많이들 알고 계시겠지만, 래됴헤드가 앨범 완성한지는 조금 되었지요.
Label 과의 계약으로 늦어지고 있는것 같았습니다만, 레이블 하나 차렸나 보군요. 이번 앨범은 No label
이라고 합니다. ㅡ,.ㅡ , 그들의 실험정신으로 앨범이 나오기전에 MP3 로
공유를 한다고 합니다. 물론 원본 보다는 곡수가 절반가량으로 적긴 하지만, 대단하다고 밖에 할말이..

그토록 노력한 앨범을 MP3로 절반가량이나 공유하고, 그것도 무료(from 1 penny)로 공개 한다고 하니,
음반 판매량으로 쌈박질 하는 많은 가수분들껜 씁쓸함을 안겨줄듯 하군요;;
(개인적으로 불법 공유가 바람직 하다고는 생각 하지 않습니다; 또 DRM 관련업에 종사고 하고있고)

(여기서 무료라 함은, 평가자가 평가하기 나름입니다. 돈내기 싫은사람은 1 페니만 내면 되지요.
무료는 아닌가;?? 암튼 디지탈음반 다운로드는 원하는 만큼 내고 다운로드 하면 된답니다.
근데 저 디지탈음반이 DRM 안씌워져 있을듯한데, 걍 공유해도 되는것일까요, 흠.)

Well, well, well. Radiohead, err Jonny more like it, announced that a new Radiohead album will be released on October 10th. Yes, you read it correctly. October 10th. That is next week.

It will be called In Rainbows and the way it will be released is quite interesting. First off, it will only be available on www.inrainbows.com initially. Secondly, it appears that they are releasing this album without a signed deal with a record company. Of course, many of us have been saying for years that they don't need EMI or any label.

If you go to the site now, you'll notice that there are two options for pre-ordering: Discbox and Download.

What is the difference?

톰요크가 솔로집을 냈단다. 올해 중 언제 냈는지는 정확히 모르겠다;;
올해 여름쯤? 정도로 기억하고 있다.
래됴헤드 운영자가 어찌 그럴수 있겠는가 싶겠지만,
뭐 요즘 그렇다;; 아무래도 일상에서 생활하다보니.

Still, the intimacy of the surroundings yields some intensely reflective Yorke lyrics: thoughts on political intimidation ("Harrowdown Hill"), the haunting nature of a relationship ("The Eraser") and general deception ("Black Swan") that bury all traces of seething below the surface. Just hearing Yorke mutter and twitter through multi-tracked vocal percussion riffs -- and corresponding pattering percussion -- is one powerful lure. But then there are his lead vocals, which sound mussed and sleepy, intentionally low-aspiration, and still somehow dramatic. Can't wait to hear where he goes next.
